TSU secures local, international partnerships thru tripartite MOU

Tarlac State University, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA (UHamka), and DepEd Tarlac City Schools Division entered a tripartite memorandum of understanding to foster international academic cooperation on Thursday morning (May 8) at the Alumni Center, Lucinda Campus.

Tarlac State University entered partnerships with Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka (UHamka) and DepEd Tarlac City Schools Division respectively to foster international academic cooperations on Thursday (May 8) morning at the Alumni Center in Lucinda campus.

TSU and the College of Education agreed to help hand in hand in terms in terms of faculty scholarships for master's and doctoral degrees, undergraduate student scholarships, collaborative education programs, English Language Proficiency Program (ELPP), credit-transfer program, laboratory/research facilities sharing, faculty and student exchange, internships, cultural experience programs, and joint seminars, conferences and meetings for education.

“As a public education institution, we are committed to providing quality, accessible, and relevant and inclusive education. The Tarlac City Schools Division fully embraces this partnership. We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning, research and innovation, cultural exchange and professional development,” Dr. Ruth Jimenez, Chief Education Program Supervisor, DepEd Tarlac city Schools Division said.

In a separate MOU, UHamka and TSU agreed to empower faculty mobility, staff mobility, ELPP, research collaboration (conduct of international research conference), extension program and cultural exchange.

The university will assign competent faculty members to provide basic English to foreign students. Foreign staff and students will also be immersed in the Filipino culture through cultural exchange program.

“We would like to encourage our esteemed partners to have dedication, collaboration and that we will have mutual publication and reputable journal,” Dr. Herri Mulonyo, UHAMKA Director of Institute of Research, Community Service, and Publication said in his message of commitment.

“In TSU we value collaboration and partnership, and in valuing collaboration and partnership simply because of our traits of 3Bs. We believe that we could do our best for our students who are our primary clientele. We believe on partnership, believing in others, because if we don't have not partners, we cannot attain SDGs” Dr. Agnes Macaraeg, vice president for academic affairs said.

Dr. Macaraeg said the 3Bs are namely Believing on what TSU can do, believing in others, and believing in faith.

TSU president Arnold Velasco expressed the university’s commitment to uphold, to agree and to share the knowledge, expertise and resources for the academic enhancements and research mentioned in the memorandum of understanding.

Said partnerships are under the initiative of the College of Education’s Master of Arts in Education major in English program. (jlm-OPA)
