VAW Campaign Launched in TSU; Sophomores win in the CineJuana Competition

The Gender and Development Office led the simultaneous kick-off of the 2019 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women themed “VAW-Free Community Starts with Me” during the flag raising ceremonies held at the three campuses of Tarlac State University on November 26, 2019.

The program at the Main Campus was spearheaded by Dr. Rita E. Pulmano, GAD Director, while the launching at the Lucinda and San Isidro Extension Campuses were manned by the GAD college coordinators.

In her message, Dr. Pulmano encouraged the TSU community to support the campaign by placing the orange VAW icon in their social media profiles for the entire 18 days.

Meanwhile, nine sophomore BA Communication students won second place in the CineJuana Digital Shorts Competition organized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

Lance Harvey Berber and his team, collectively known as MAJARLIKA Productions, produced the winning film entitled “Blager”, an entry under the #JuanParaKayJuana category.

The campaign locally implemented in the university is an annual project of the PCW as mandated by Proclamation No. 1172 in 2006. This year, it will run from November 25 to December 12.
